blogger seeds

A while ago, Chris & Laurie at "Miss Flower," offered seeds from their garden to anyone who would like some. Today I received a delightful package from them!

This was the note card - a photo of theirs - what a gorgeous butterfly. And inside were the cutest seed packets I've ever seen! Thank you so much, Chris & Laurie! I love them - both the seeds and the beautiful way you packaged them up. Very fun!

Today was an outdoor day for me. Both Tristi and Beth had recently inquired how much time I put in each day to keep my gardens up. I blithely said, oh just deadheading and pulling the occasional weed during these hot summer months. Yeah, well, that is definitely catching up with me now! The gardens look like quack grass city. And I have some weird ground cover weed threatening to take over every other inch of dirt. So this morning I spent about two hours cleaning up the two lakeshore gardens. They look much better. I'll try to get some fresh mulch on them tomorrow or Thursday, and then move on to another space. My summer vacation is over!

On a happier note, we just returned from kayaking. It was beautiful out there. I am definitely hooked!
I went out Sunday night at midnight to catch the Perseids. I saw 5 gorgeous shooting stars in 1 1/2 hours. At 1:30, I decided I was too tired and came in and went to bed. Five is better than none, but kind of disappointing just the same.

I love the Lupines.....I for one know you spend LOTS of time weeding and conversing with your gardens!!!!!!!

A little cooler today, had a little over an inch of rain last evening--very nice. "Dean" is kicking up a little rumpus out in the Gulf, so we are in for rain tomorrow, Thursday, Friday and posssibly Saturday----we will be mowing twice a week again. When the rains come, and the hot is already here, the grass does grow.

Catch ya later,

We are so glad you got you package in the mail:) I will have to send you the web site for the seed packets they are fun and easy to make. I have only seen a couple shooting stars I bet it is neat on a clear night to be out on the lake. I bet the sounds are so cool!!

When I had a young family I used to get the kids out of bed at 1 or 2 a.m. just to see the meteor showers. We would lay back in the grass, listen to the crickets and frogs and watch "falling stars." Now, I think about it for a second and roll over and go back to sleep. Am I getting old? I must force myself to get up when the next one comes around.

There are too many lights around us to see the night sky clearly. Great seed packets from L&C.

Just seeing the photos of the seed packets made me happy. I can't imagine what it did to get them in the mail in person! Thanks for sharing! Cindy at Rosehaven Cottage

Oh, what fun. I have plans to make seed packets. But it might have to wait until the outside business of gardening is less pressing. I've been digging out new beds for next year.

I had big plans to see the meteor showers, but never made it. I understand they can be seen all month, just not in the quantity as the night you saw them.

Lucky you!! Those will be beautiful in your garden next year. Last night, I couldn't sleep and went and sat outside. I saw one shooting star but other than that, we haven't had great weather for viewing the Perseids.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the kayak!

What a beautiful garden! Lakefront and all! What are a few 'native plants' mixed in among the purposeful plantings.
