more late summer blooms

On our walk through the garden yesterday, we found a surprising number of things still blooming, reblooming, and just starting to bloom. Maybe I'm the one who's tired - not the gardens!! Here are more photos.

dianthus (pinks)

Queen Anne's Lace
native rudbeckia or coneflower
These all started from seed brought by the wind or birds or ??
They bloom, like, forever! I love it!

plantegenia hosta
these blooms smell sooooo good!

dahlia

turtlehead

little blue stem grass
just starting to turn burgundy and develop seed heads
the phlox are winding down, but still some color
"David"
"Hawkeye Belle"
(this rose is just covered in blooms again)
one of the dahlias

hibiscus are still going strong

mallow reblooming
shasta daisy

"Autumn Joy" sedum, just starting to show color

hibiscus bud starting to open

delphinium reblooming
(surprising because I neglected to deadhead the first blooms)
one of the caladiums in the garden

Oooh... Kris, everything looks so pretty! I can't get over your bluestem, and how different it looks from mine. Mine is bluer, I think, but more upright and not nearly as full and lush looking as yours.

Good Morning,
You may be tired of the rain, but evidently your flowers are not.... Everything looks so fresh and pretty.

We are still getting the tail end of Hurricane Dean, even tho he went 250 miles to the South (well into Mexico), we are still getting a shower or two everyday.

My Roses really love it, a shot from Mother Nature is worth three waterings from the hose.

Hi Kris!

I just love you Queen Anne's Lace and your dahlias. I'm hoping that my garden looks as good as your does when I get home in a couple of days. I'm anxious to take my own garden walks and see what's new.

Hugs,
Cindy at Rosehaven Cottage

I love delphinium -- but I'm so allergic to them!

Very nice - I particularly like the Queen Anne's Lace as it is one of my favorites...I love to watch them nodding in the wind.

It is wonderful to see Pinks re-blooming. Your garden must look gorgeous. I am so envious that your Delphinium is reblooming too.

The 'Hawkeye Belle' rose is amazing.

I just love walking through your garden with you!

Just a little side note, the cone flower is also sometimes called "Mexican Hat" because it looks like a sombrero.

Great photos. Since our recent rains my dianthus had a short rebloom too. Of course, nothing like what they did in June - but blooms none the less.
I'm especially awed by the dahlias - they are lovely. I've never tried them but if they look like yours - I'm in!
