dock is in...can the boat be far behind?

What a perfectly beautiful weekend! Today we have mid to upper 60's, sunshine, and very light breeze. Friday we started the dock - put in two sections. It was pretty easy to quit since we both had work to do. Yesterday we finished the rest except for the end bench section. That is always a bear to get in, and after doing the rest of it, we were pooped! So this morning we did the bench section and now, BRING ON SUMMER!

It was so gorgeous this afternoon that I grabbed a book and sat out on the end of the dock reading for an hour or so - heaven! Right now, Mark is out polishing on the boat, so shouldn't be too long before we're ready to splash it. No flowers blooming, but I have a serious case of spring fever!

Oh - but how cold was the water? We help my mother-in-law with her dock every year (up near St. Cloud), and even in mid-May it's freezing! Of course, the flip side is that you were able to sit out and read - sounds like heaven.

Thanks Kitt!

Tracy - the water is cold - but luckily we don't have to get in to put the dock in. We use some floaty styrofoam sections that float the metal sections while we drive in the posts. Otherwise, we'd probably wait until July to do it!!!!

(I use the royal "we" here - I'm the mule that hauls the wood sections down to the lake from behind the garage, and I help get the metal sections in - but Mark does all pipe driving and other brute force stuff!)

I find myself wondering -- what's on the other side of the lake?

It's that kind of photo, isn't it? The possibilities...

You'll see in future posts that we live on a small lake that is part of a very large lake that's made up of numerous bays and lakes and channels. Across from us is a road and beyond that you can see one of the larger bays. We're connected to everything by a bridge in one direction and by channels in the other. It's a really fun lake - everything from fishing and waterskiing to cool little towns with great restaurants and shopping. We love it!

It looks like the kind of lake that would be fun to explore by kayak. (But then, what kind of lake isn't?)

For some reason Blogger is having trouble with my comments. Let's see if this one works.

Someone else tried to get through to me today and couldn't - bummer - love the comments!

Lots of people kayak here - we have a canoe but haven't done the kayak thing - yet!
