We really don't watch that much TV

Well, the gardening has been put on hold indefinitely, so here's some chit-chat about our TV viewing. (yes, yes, I think I'd tune out now too!)

We decided 2 or 3 years ago that commercials were taking up way too much time, so we started recording our favorite shows and then fast-forwarding through the commercials. We even found a nice VCR that would go through and mark the commercials and do the fast forwarding for us. So we had finally achieved zero-calorie (burned) couch potato-ism!!

Luckily we cut our TV time way down when we joined Netflix, so only a few shows were taped each week. This year I managed to eliminate those pesky shows too. I taped 3 weeks worth before we had a chance to watch them, and then discovered that the SAP was on - all of the shows were taped in Spanish. Our Spanish really isn't that good, so ended up putting all of those shows on our SAVE list at Netflix. (If I'm going to waste my time watching TV, I at least want all the story lines in order.)

So that left us wide open to "catch-up" on all the shows we weren't wasting our time on in the first place. How handy!

Our first catch-up show was the first season of "24." We sat through all 24 episodes over 6 nights. The show was actually pretty good, and we will probably watch the next 5 (or 6?) seasons - but not for quite awhile!!

I found "Rosemary & Thyme" on another blog, and it sounded pretty good. So we are now 2/3 through the first season of that show. It's about 2 women who garden and solve mysteries - oh, yeah - they're English. It's funny - has beautiful flowers - and okay storylines. A nice break from Jack actually.
Have also watched "The Office" - that totally cracked us up. We are caught up to the current season - can't wait until they release this season.
And watched the first season of "Weeds" - fairly dumb, but we thoroughly enjoyed it!!
I also rented "Gardens of the World" with Audrey Hepburn recently. It's great just to watch her - but the gardens they show are fantastic. I watched the first half of this many years ago on PBS, but missed the last half, so enjoyed seeing the whole thing.
Weather: in the teens with very light snow last night. Looks like teens again tonight - and maybe tomorrow night. They haven't really forecasted a significant warm-up yet. Drat!

Good Morning,

Had a lovely surprise rain last evening about 8:00 pm---was really nice because it had been in the high 80's yesterday, really made the air smell good.

Wanted to tell you my Roses are just beautiful--they are really loaded with blooms, and lots of buds to open up yet. The Crepe Myrtle is really leafed out, waiting for some buds--we will probably miss most of the blooms while we are up North.

Later,
THE TEXAS CONNECTION

Oh that sounds wonderful - the flowers and the 80's!!!! You should take some pix of the flowers in bloom and email them to me - or start a blog! I was going to say at least there will be things blooming in the gardens when you're here - but hard to say if the temp doesn't kick it up a notch!

Hi Kris,
Just popped on over from your comment on my blog.

Is "Rosemary & Thyme" television show? Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't know any of the TV shows because I don't watch much TV either (just FoodTv and HGTV). That one does peak my interest though.

Hi Zoey - thanks for checking out the blog! Rosemary & Thyme is a TV show. On Netflix, they show seasons 2003, 2004 & 2006 as available. It's a PBS-type show - don't know if it's still running. I had never seen the listing here, but someone else mentioned it on a blog (sorry, can't remember who - drat!) and I thought it sounded good. It's not as slick as a lot of American TV (at least the 1st season), but I enjoyed watching it.

Come back anytime - hopefully it won't be too long before I have lovely garden photos posted!!
